Tony -
The Jerusalem Syndrome is not only limited to thinking that you are Jesus, it can involve any biblical character. I have read that it really seems to affect Protestants, although no particular denomination is immune. Great Show!

New York crazy has nothing on LA crazy. I’ve lived in NYC for about 2 years now, having moved there from LA. The crazies in NY are “normal” by LA standards.
Now a sane New Yorker – Jacob S.
Jacob,
Oh man are you sooooo right!
I’ve been there a lot, have pals/family there, and actually lived out there for a while some years back.
It was quite lovely, quiet, hip -now it’s valet parking for the men’s room! OY!
The Olympics were fun.
But again, you are so right! NY requires survival skills that keep you on your toes, while LA, well, you can just melt in relative peace
NY kinda has a Brit sensibility re eccentrics.
I did a show at a club in BH and taped it, and called it FULL MOON CRAZIES-
i mean, there was a guy handing out cards saying greetings from outter space.
I also found that rather than looking for people to be witty, i was more concerned with them being awake! and the LA Midnight Freakies -very scary types.
It’s a really great city, the good, the bad, the ugly/beautiful, and there’s quite a sophisticated element there- usually oiutside of show business. Thank god lot of the far-out people are brilliant, innovative, creative, and normal.
The social fabric of the USA is a little frayed at the moment everywhere, alas.
Jacob, thanks for the enjoyable riff- i might play that tape on the show soon.
It was nutty- but i did work with the great Paul Mooney a bunch of times; he was fabulously funny, and a real good guy too!

Brian,
Thanks mucho for the elucidation.
The protestant zoom-in is very interesting. I guess those branches are more restrained, so it can possibly be some kind of outlet for pent up religious emotion.
I dunno how i’d feel walking around there. The oldest place i’ve been to is Rome, including Vatican City, and outside of a sweater and a couple of shirts i didn’t come away affected by much religious fervor. What a beautiful place! In the winter- no tourists. warm too. 60′s. …Hmmmm, what Biblical character identity would i aspire to inhabit? I have to think about it! Thanks for the great info and kind words!
